Hi Zeki,
Is it possible to have this fixes in upcoming release 4.1.1?
I pushed the fixes just in case. I don't know about another release
candidate (rc3) for 4.1.1. Your fixes will be in 4.1.2 for sure.
I wish there will be a RC3, because these are serious errors. And i
feel really sorry when Turkish users started to report issues on
functions. Especially, the corporate users.
On the other hand, talking about translations; functions are
translated in Turkish, because it is easier to learn their
functionality. But the bad thing is, Microsoft Turkish localizers are
not very successful in localizing the function names IMHO... Also
Microsoft has a strange policy to change function names in Excel
versions....
The point we stand is interoperatability with MS Excel, because it is
widely used in business and best collobration with Microsoft Excel
users - like or not that's the fact....
As per working for best interoperability, i used to work on a
spreadsheet; collected all available calc functions, definitions in
both English and Turkish, published in our wiki and it helped many of
our users. And i wanted to go further and make a cross table with
Excel functions in order to make a reference document and use it for
qa too. But could'nt have time to start anyway...
May be it can be useful by other locales -at least to collect the
functions... Here it is: http://db.tt/lpVxTgGH
I still search for a guide/complete list of translations of function
names English-Turkish.
(Is there a OpenFormula/Calc/Excel cross table?)
There are lists like
http://wwwhome.ewi.utwente.nl/~trieschn/excel/excel.html but they are
not complete or updated. For. ex. ISNA function not listed etc...
My idea to maintaining function names:
- Creating a new category in pootle (both in UI and Help) and moving
all functions to there (I think it is not possible or easy
and
- Creating a reference document, like my spreadsheet or
http://wwwhome.ewi.utwente.nl/~trieschn/excel/excel.html
having a reference document/web interface/page will be fine and make
easier to translate them and maintain them.
On users view, if we have a cross table of functions with Excel,
users(also localization teams) will be delighted to have such
document/web page.
Best regards,
Zeki
