Thank you for your detailed response. With all due respect, when I clicked in LibreOffice on Tools/Options/Java LibreOffice said exactly:
Sun Microsystems, Inc. Version 1.6.0_23

and not openJDK

I can take a screenshot of it for you tomorrow if you would like.
