I have another idea. I see on all French distributors in the "magazine"
section magazines specialised with a specific distribution ( Fedora or
OpenSuse or ubuntu etc ... ). These provide one CD or DVD with the
distro, some additional packages. The content of the magazine is always
a basic explanation of the installation, use etc ...

Why couldn't we do the same for LibO ? These magazines costs only about
9€ ... Which I don't know what's the equivalent in dollars sorry !
But if they can do it with distros, maybe we can do it with a CD
containing the libO suite, and some softwares from our future partners
?

This is a way to show some visibility without the "formal" and "usually
expensive" Microsoft way to sell his own suite. I think people could
really be interested about it.

Several of us have written for OpenOffice.org magazine special issues
that are put out about once per year by Linux Identity:

They are a French company (with some offices in Poland), but offer the
magazines in English. I have seen them on the shelves of major retailers
including Barnes and Noble. The magazine includes a DVD with the OOo
installer and other bonus materials.

This may be what you've seen on store shelves, too. Look around in that
same section and let us know if you see the OOo special edition there. (The
latest one even has my picture in it. :)

Yes I'll be checking. And in deed I think it's Linux Identity who
provides these magazines. But actually they are a lot of distros :
Ubuntu, OpenSuSe, Fedora etc ... And the magazines offered are not
always the sames ( depends if people buy or not, or if the distributor
receives or not ).

I'll check if I see any of these magazines with OOo.

They are getting ready to do an issue for OOo 3.3 release.
