I could produce one with the contemporary logo, but looking at the
photos from FOSDEM it does not look like the banner uses it, it looks
like it uses the one in the file you have.
The FODEM logo banner has been ordered by developers without
involving the Design Team. This might have caused Branding issues
I didn't know about before I looked at the photo:

It seems that the white space rules are disregarded and the color has
has turned to a more yellow tone during print processing...
Good. I'm glad you're tracking that.
Also I see they went much closer to edges then I did, I'll do that also,
which will raise the height, which is a good thing.
In my eyes it's a bad thing. :-(
Even if someone could argue that there is plenty of empty space around
a banner, the visual impression depends on the white area around the logo.
A logo with too less white space doesn't look professional to me, it
"can't breath". The white space recommendations in the Branding
Guidelines are *minimum* sizes - it is no problem to leave much more
space around the logo.
I don't think that this last enlargement provides any improvement over the
smaller version (as I can't imagine any situation on a fair, where these
differences become relevant for readability).
BRB
Standing by.
How do we make sure that Bernhard is in the loop?
Quite easily:
Keep posting on this list. At least once in 24h I try to read all the LibO
mails I got.
I thought I would be quite fast at the moment:
I've been online until 00:50h last night before I went to bed, got up 4 1/2
hours later and took my chance to have a look at my mails right after 08:00
here at work.
If you decide to discuss and order your banner in this short timeframe,
nobody here in Europe can react (perhaps except someone being even
more a night-owl than myself).
Best regards
Bernhard
