Just wondering about why you are using XCF format for the "editable"
files? I know it is the default for GIMP, but some people on this
list
might not know that.
They can ask.. actually, I should of used Inkscape, or so I feel, but
I'm not nearly as proficient (let alone efficient) with Inscape as I am
with GIMP and that is really the only solid reason.
I spent years and years using Paint Shop Pro 5 [do not like the newer
version much] and Corel Draw [4 to 12] on Windows. There are still a
lot of "filters", and options, I need for GIMP to do some of the things
I am used to with Paint Shop Pro 5. I started using it about a year ago
and still not as good as I want to be with GIMP. I have been using
Inkscape for about 2 or 3 years. The thing I do with the cover file is
embed it into an Inkscape file to format it the actual print size for
the cover. Then print the Inkscape file instead of resizing the image
during the printing through GIMP.
I use to use JPG over PNG for most all my images. GIF for transparency
issues/needs. But it seems that I am dealing with PNG a lot these days.
Yes commercial printing vs. ink-jet/color-laser is a big difference.
Even ink-jet vs. color-laser printing can be different for the
design.
Well, let's look at that same file with the green background removed

Does ti still hold up, I think so.
Thanks,
Drew
I do not know who decided on Green being the LO color, but my favorite
color is a shade of green.
So are we going to use Alt-8 for the cover? Nice to have both
backgrounds to choose from.
