De overlap is bewust. De ene (3.3.x) is de volledig betrouwbare en
nagenoeg foutvrije stabiele versie, en de andere (3.4.0) is de eerste
editie van de ontwikkelingsversie.
Deze laatste bevat alle nieuwtjes, maar bevat waarschijnlijk ook nog
een hoop onontdekte fouten. Dat maakt 'm ongeschikt voor bedrijven
e.d., die vooral stabiliteit zoeken. Consumenten daarentegen, willen
gewoon graag het nieuwste van het nieuwste en nemen wat kinderziekten
op de koop toe.
Zo'n overlap is heel gebruikelijk in softwareland. Bij vrijwel elke
belangrijke toepassing (en elk besturingssysteem) gaat dat zo.
