What testing would you like me to do for phpbb?
first of all, thanks for everyone's offer, that's really great to have such a strong and supportive community! :-)
I myself will not have the time to evaluate forums myself, so what I'd like to have is a list of forum software with their pros and cons, plus the names of people who would be willing to 1. install and upgrade 2. administer them. In the end, we should set-up with a forum software that has good features plus a lot of supporting administrators.
Ideally, people put it on their webspace to test and evaluate it. We might also jump in with a VM where people can install software on. Later on, as proposed, I would move the forum to our productive servers, freeing the VM again, unless there is a compelling reason not to do so (I only have limited VMs and IP addresses at the moment, so if we stay with a VM for practical reasons, we have to do something with Apache mod_proxy to forward the requests).
