Hi *,

while I agree with David, that the discussion is started too late to
change it before going live, don't hold back with the discussion, once
there is a new concept, it can be implemented, but time for
experimenting with the designs on the real site (and also the staging
site is too short for major overhaul). But again: don't hold back!

Yes, I in fact never liked the "one button for all" approach, as for
me personally it almost never did the right thing.

That being said, it would of course be possible to use the same OS and
platform detection that the download page. And unless the site has to
go static (i.e. the site will assemble the page individually for each
visitor, at least in parts), one can use server-side functions to get
the appropriate URL....

I strongly prefer a link to the download page though, not an attempt
for a completely autodetected downloadbutton that immediately starts
the download.
