I'm happy so long as nobody is going around complaining that the devs are a bunch of lazy, arrogant anarchists who ignore users in order to do whatever they like. Noticing the trend for that implication in the arguments was genuinely concerning. And I realise some of what was being argued about was misconstruction of some of my comments. Perhaps they were not required. I hope I have corrected any misperceptions that have arrisen.

No indeed not. The community already works that way, and works quite well, I think. I do hope we're all on the same page about slagging the developers.
