Hi :)
But that is kinda one of the points i was making earlier.  The package manager usually does all the 
installing and maintenance of programs for you.  Heck, mostly there are plenty enough programs to 
do anything you might want right from the get go.  It's only when we want to be awkward and try 
weird things that it can get tricky and that is true of any OS, including Windows.  

This thread was not about your cannon printer.  Perhaps start a new thread about that as i have a 
few ideas that would be very off-topic in this thread.
