Hi Christoph, all,

I'm eager to help, but just the same am lacking the time. Plus, I've never worked with templates. Having said that, I totally agree we might need to look from an upper viewpoint. I too believe this is easier with mock-ups, so I'll try to draw something (hand sketched if needed be) for the Style and Formatting window first. This could include something like a style status bar -- with paragraph, character and page style used in the current cursor point -- much like what was thrown here yesterday. And we take from there. As for the templates, it's a completely different chapter, although perhaps with consequences to our choices in the Style chapter; but I lack the competence to work on that, so unfortunately this'll have to wait, unless someone else takes that train too.

Cheers,
Rafael./

So what I wanted to say is, that there might be ways to improve the
situation globally - instead of improving thing locally.

Mmh, maybe there is even a way to figure out the numbers of usage via
the OOo data collection ...

By the way, I'm one of those who work with MS Office 2007 at work - and
I haven't found a sane way yet (sane = feels like it has been designed
this way) to add a style.

Thus, finally, we may put our thoughts into a mockup and continue the
discussion ... due to some personal duties, I miss the time (which is
really sad, since this might help to continue ... but maybe Rafael can
jump in).

Cheers,
Christoph
