I think Bernhard's proposal is great. My time will free up after Wednesday
so hopefully I can dedicate some serious time to looking over the icon set
at that time. The icons currently look professional so I don't think that
anyone would look poorly upon them. If we were to submit an icon set now,
would we consider making a new set for the next release? Personally, I
think we can have "draft" icons now and then create a final set later (with
the intention of not changing them again for a long time).

P.S. On Mac's at least you almost never actually see the icons (you see a
small document preview instead) so if they aren't up to our very strict
standards no one will notice. ;-)

Hi Bernhard, all!

We run out of time!

Aehm, yes, and I already missed to answer many of the mails today (like
yours, or those by Björn). Sorry for that :-\

Therefore I would propose an approach like this:

1. step: Create icons for all the document types based on the present
design. As the icon background is the same (with different colors),
the main work is creating the symbols for the different sizes.

Okay, I'd like to add - that mainly includes (from my point of view) to
come up with sensible application symbolism. We need help here, for

2. step: If we still have some time left, we can switch the template
icons to document icons and create different ones (inverted? other
ideas?) for templates.

Yep, that should be possible. I already tried to improve the clarity of
some of the template icons to make them more distinct.

One thing that might be worth to add - I think the importance of the
icons is different. The template icons show up rarely (as far as I
know), therefore our main goal should be to ensure that they look
different. If somebody opens "Document from Template" (for example),
then the dialog itself helps to explain the meaning of the icons.

So here, I'd like to say that Prio A is for document / application icons
for Writer to Base.

What do you all think - should we try to finalize this iconset in the
two steps I describe above?

So, anybody who can spend some time to help with the icons?
Unfortunately, I ran out of vacation, so that my contributions will
decrease of the next days ...

And, maybe some other "motivation" - there will be articles featuring
LibreOffice when it is release. Since there is currently less difference
to OOo (when looking at the GUI), our icons can provide a great way to
ensure good visibility to the world. Does that sound good? ;-)

Bernhard, thanks for going forward and providing this proposal. What do
the others think/say?
