Tonight I was upgrading a very old Java version on a very old WinXP
version and informed me of OpenOffice.org :)
See:

I thought it was an interesting marketing idea. Perhaps we can ask to be
added similarly to other popular free software Windows applications.
Cheers,

Hi Fabian:
This is an excellent idea! I am not sure we have even discussed this!
The obvious groups that we should look to are the ones on our support
pages. We could express our greatest and most thankful appreciation
for supporting us in showing our logo on their website pages as well
as on any software installers where there is an occasion where our
logo could appear. Ahem ... I guess we could all do our part by
displaying our logo on our own personal websites as well.
We should also have a section on our official website where there are
downloadable icons for public display use.
Most preferrably very close or prominently linking to the current
branding guidelines too:
http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Marketing/Branding
Is that document complete / current ?
Not quite - but close enough to work off of - we have a specific design
list with our 'designers' (we are amazing creative with ML names)
Basically for graphics you can take an idea there - but it works as
always better to go with something in hand, like your first take of the
graphic, and then let them comment or maybe even tweak it.
The OO.o ad under the Java installer is a special case right, as SUN
owned both products. There was talk back at OO.o about doing a deal with
Mozilla I think it was, that was a couple of years ago - it never came
off.
Not much on that subject sorry - it is a good idea it one of those
rather long fuse deals, but if you know some primary folks in particular
projects that you think might want to do something like this - then I
would say just post it up to the Steering Committee list as in the end
any type cross-project stuff like this is going to end up in front of
them anyway. Again, this is FOSS so big points for actually bring in a
working prototype, in this case name and contact information from the
other project.
BTW - updated Java on Joyce's Win7 laptop 3 or 4 days ago, the OO.o ad
is still there - they cycle though there is the OO.o ad and 2 or 3
others IIRC.
