Thanks Howard, Being a lazy sort I am just trying to save some clicks.What I want is to have the current date entered automatically when I open a new table row.

Hi Bill, I don't fully understand what you require but if you tap a cell where you want the current date to appear and then tap fx to enter a formula then choose Date and scroll down to Date Now and it will bring up a selection of date types.
