There was recently a thread with Japanese in Calc. Have a look in the nabble mail. Maybe there is a solution. If I am not completely mistaken I made a test with Japanese in Calc myself but don't recall if I reported a bug or not.

"import" means copy and paste from another application like Writer, correct?
