What I don't understand is why Access2Base needs to be bundled with LO

The rythm of major releases of Access2Base is twice every year, as for
LO. So, that's not the issue.
But Access2Base existed as an extension before being bundled with LO 4.2.
The issue is:
- LO 4.1 users (btw AOO users as well ...) shall be able to install the
latest A2B version (as an extension), when it will be published, i.e.
simultaneously with LO 4.3.0.
- LO 4.3 users will get the latest A2B version
- However LO 4.2 users who, for any reason, would like not to upgrade to
LO 4.3 immediately , would stay in the older version. Indeed minor
releases of LO (4.2.X++) allow bug fixes, not functional enhancements.
That's why a patch has been developed by Lionel to allow the
installation of the A2B extension anyway if users really want to benefit
from its last version.
Have a nice vacation.
