It is strange for me tho that linux *hardcodes* 75. Where is taht
hardcoded?

 I think that is the default value for X.Org if it can't find out the real 
value from the hardware or configuration options. Normally X should find out 
the real DPI, although desktops also have options for various misguided 
attempts at forcing a specific DPI.
