You are right, maybe my "always" wasn't waterproof :-) There is also a
setting that shows labels only for the less known/used icons - I wanted
to say that the labels are shown for all toolbar icons. Anybody
remembers IE5? :-)

I disagree as well :-)

Hard might also refer to the effectiveness (speed) and/or the effort
(likeliness of RSI) that is required to use a device that controls the
mouse pointer (even via touchpad and/or TrackPoint).

Example: People using their laptop in the train - in comparison to the
desktop at home, one is confronted to environmental constraints (bumpy
"road"), an incorrect body posture, and different / less accurate input
devices.

Thus, we have to take care that our default settings work well for the
majority of users working in very different working conditions.

By the way, even if some people don't like the idea - this is what
Microsoft managed rather good with regard to the ribbons (MS Fluent) and
the visual distinction (size, labeling) of the different toolbar
buttons.
