Looks better compared to we have now, thanks! :-) One additional change that I think should appear 
in your proposal is changing those INSRT, STD, BLK, etc. abbreviations either to icons or to full 
text.

That is of course, when we show the status bar ;-) As I think I explained in another thread (and I 
think the idea has some support here), I'd like not to show it by default, and use other means of 
displaying the info where possible.
