IRC is basically one big chartroom. If IRC is too much to ask, maybe I shall
host a web based chat room?

back to the original post. I like the color of your design much better, the
roll over is nice. its much more vibrant which is good. the current pail one
is ugly. though I like how the top right corner is cut off in the pail one.
as to witch one I like the Ivan's proposal.

as to Alexander we could take this to its own email. but I do like that kind
of menu, with the arrows and the popout button. there has not been a
proposal to my knowledge. there is a UI proposal by Mirek which does talk
about this for Citrus, here are three links to his blog that talk about
this[1][2][3]. but again lets talk about this in another email.

Evon I think that this is a good idea, I don't know how IRC's work just that
they are a mass instant message system like thing. if we could get this
going that would be grate. lets talk about this in another email as well.

Cheers
Andrew

I too wish to get a UI redesign started. Are there any times where we
could all maybe chat in an IRC channel? I feel as though we could get
something done if we were to chat and get on the same page.

Hi,

Regarding the new download button:

1) I would simply mirror the bright gradient. Currently it the hover
effect looks a bit too bright. And the border looks a bit blurry.
Maybe it looks better without the shade.

2) The download icon looks a bit too pale. I would choose either the
current one or the last one, but the colors should look a bit more
vibrant.

Unrelated to this: Are there any plans to have a style selector,
which
affects headlines, normal text, tables etc. ? To me, this seems to be
a very time-saving feature, which could be implemented as part of the
UI-redesign.
Example in Word: http://weaselhut.net/images/styles.jpg
Additionally the user should be able to easily customize a style, e.g.
choose the alternating colors for tables, the way images are aligned
and so on.

Greetings

Alex

Hi all,

Back in June [1] there was some great discussion about improving
the download page. Given that no major steps have been taken toward
an implementation, I'd like to take up this effort (with your help
and feedback of course!)

In preparation for work on the download page, I have created a
proposal for an updated home page button based on Nik's design and
with help from Christoph [2]. As you'll notice, it's a heck of a
lot more prominent than the current one, and far better looking in
my
(humble) opinion :). The button on the actual download page would
look similar to this.

I'd like your feedback on the following in particular:
1) The mouseover effect: if you don't like it, please suggest a
different one.
2) The download icon. There are already a few different proposals
based on past discussions [3]; let me know if you prefer one of
these instead.

Regards,
Ivan.
