I read somewhere in the openoffice.org days that the accessibility issues were
meant to be addressed by the Presenter Console, which at that point had not
been integrated into the larger project.

I note that there is now a libreoffice-presenter-console package. If this
doesn't resolve your concerns then it's time to start writing bug reports.
