Agreed.

Rather it is an iso file that we would make available to anyone that
wants to produce a DVD - for example - specifically - spoke with a
number of Lunux User Group leaders that regularly burn DVDs as part of
their group meetings. 

The DVD is used by LUB members when showing the software to others, such
as their employer, their school and the like, their prospective
customers. 

That they like the ability to leave the disc after giving the
presentation and perhaps installing onto a few machines.

So - is this in line with others thinking on this? (This idea that we
are working on something that will be available for download, but not
on-line)

Yes.  I'm still of the opinion that the target would get the file via
P2P. That would avoid the requirement for a central host. Version number
would be incorporated into the file name.
