I do see where you are coming from with this and I actually do agree. I
think for now our main focus should be just the users for the time being.

I think whats trying to be said is that some lists such as QA for instance
and others would need to find a home on the forums as well because not all
end users want to subscribe to a mailing list but woudl prefer to sign up
and get answers on forums. Also i think as well that forums will get more
community members involved as well.

don't get me wrong: I don't want to render your work useless - I really do
appreciate what you do with regards to the forums.

The way I understood was that for certain *users*, mailing lists are too
much of a barrier, and so I'd suggest we start with typical user support
forums.

Moving website, QA and other areas of working to a forum is doomed to
fail, IMHO. I really don't feel comfortable that we start in such a big
way, and would propose starting small and simple, only with user support
forums, and then see where it goes.

For most of the working areas, a migration to a forum doesn't make sense.
As an example: If the barrier to enter a mailing list is too high for
someone, how should he be involved in technical translations (l10n@),
administration of websites (website@) or verification of bugs (qa@)?

That being said, I didn't read the entire thread, but wanted to share my
gut feeling nontheless...
