Hi,

I have to second Marc here, except for his comment on Silverstripe. I
realize a few people are used to the Mediawiki syntax (the languae and
formatting used without the WYSIWYG editor) but if we take it out we
will expect serious drops in productivity and contribution.

I would suggest we look at alternatives for a wiki platform.

Best,
Charles.

Thanks for the "preemptive" post, I was just about to send a note in
reply as a reminder. [*sad*] about the news though.

Quite honestly, if we were to re-think the use of MediaWiki, I would
consider the lack of a WYSIWYG editor a blocker to its adoption. It
prevents people from our ordinary ranks to jump in and help AND even
more embarrassing is the fact that we are in the business of supplying a
WYSIWYG office software solution -- these are the kind of users we
attract. Ironic!

In fact, all of our wiki pages could have easily been developed on a
SilverStripe site.

Cheers,

Marc

Hello,

the new wiki is nearly finished, probably I can launch the test drive
even until the end of the week.

One of the requests that were made quite often, is the installation of a
WYSIWYG editor. Unfortunately, I have no good news here: From what I
have researched, the only usable WYSIWYG editor is still in development,
and previous solutions we used are not actively maintained anymore, thus
won't work with the new wiki version we will deploy.

I am sorry that I have no better news on this. If anyone of you spots a
wiki editor working with the upcoming 1.21 version of MediaWiki, please
let me know, and I'll have a look.

Florian
