There is a requirement of having both Cyrillic and Latin version of a
site available, as seen on the http://sr.openoffice.org -> /click
"srpski (latinicom)" in the navigation header/.
I might not understand the full effects correctly, but if it is just a
1:1 mapping of the letters, and not a translation in itself, it might
be rather easy to solve.
At the old site this is done by making a copy of each page in the
"/lat/" directory and using a short Javascript code to switch links.
How that is worked out in detail - I'm not sure - it would fit
silverstripe's model more if this was a suffix
Is there a possibility to add automatic transliteration feature to the
Silverstripe so we can update only a single version of each page? I can
write the required PHP code that will do the transliteration in the
runtime.
Sure - silverstripe is open source, and it's quite easy to extend.
I'm wondering whether it is preferable to hook up a auto-"translation"
hook (this would work if one language is always the master language,
and the other one is always generated, otherwise there would be all
kind of conflict resolution needed) or whether to generate it
on-the-fly.
So what is the workflow? Are both edited independently?
Is there a script that can help me in transition of the old site content
to the new site?
No, copy and paste of the html-source is all there is currently.
Besides there is risk of copyright stuff when you blindly copy stuff,
so please double check.
As you may know, in the Kenai infrastructure only page
content is kept in a version control so it should be possible to upload
them as new Silverstripe pages. That would be great for a start.
I'd rather not do that for the above reasons.
I would like to fill a small bug, in the registration form, there is no
Serbia listed in the country list.
The country information (as well as the other fields except name &
email) are not really used - it is just that the forum module used for
user-registration/management offers those...
ciao
