My comment, or Sun's decision ? How many of those cross-platform RDBMs were : - available in 2004 (when the decision was made to upgrade the OOo1 Base iteration to something new) ? - didn't require masses of developer investment time and resources to integrate into the codebase ? - ran on OSX, Windows and Linux ? - weren't Java based ? - could be made to run in a single file and be portable across various OSes ? Personally, I always regretted the demise of the way database functionality was set up in OOo1.
