Pivot tables group like this:
CategoryA       A1
                A2
                A3
CategoryB       B1
                B2
                B3
                B4
CategoryC       C1
                C2
                
A conditional format can do the same for flat import ranges. Apply 
number format "";"";"";"" when this value is the same as the previous value.
