Hi :) Were you using a word-processor before trying LibreOffice? Any office suite at all? There are quite a few that are all based on the same code. LibreOffice has recombined with at least one. OpenOffice is hopefully going to recombine with another. It sounds as tho you have some remnants of OpenOffice, NeoOffice, Go-oo, LibreOffice, perhaps Lotus Symphony lurking somewhere on your system. Before trying LibreOffice what Office Suites did you have or try? You need to exit it before installing LO or OOo. --Dan On Thu, 2012-03-08 at 12:11 -0800, Judy Smith wrote:I don't have OpenOffice installed and I am getting the exact same downloading problem. They are still extremely similar even tho LibreOffice is far more developed. If you want to keep OpenOffice on your system then this guide might help http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Installing_in_parallel You can turn off the OpenOffice quick-starter by opening OpenOffice and go to Tools - Options - Memory Then untick the relevant option at the bottom of that screen. I'm not sure if you have to reboot the machine at that point to make it take effect. You have to have OpenOffice closed to install LibreOffice at all. It's best to use the guide i just linked to so that you have both on your system so that you can go bck to the old one if LO is not quite right. Actually the 3.5.0 has been a bit problematic so it might be worth finding the 3.4.5 instead. The 3.5.1 should fix most of the problems. After I give User Account Control permission to install, the Install Wizard opens, showing a progress bar, and saying installation may take several minutes. The progress bar remains blank, and a dialog box opens, saying "Please exit LibreOffice 3.5 and the LibreOffice Quickstarter before you continue...." As LibreOffice is not yet installed, I am at a loss to know how to proceed. If I simply wait, nothing happens; if I close the dialog box, the Install Wizard quits, saying my installation has not been changed. Help, please! (I am running Vista Home Premium, and I have Open Office installed, in case this gives a clue.) Frank Bonar 6 Hawtrey Drive, Ruislip, Middx.
