I think this feature has been requested many times on this list and
others. If I remember correctly, one of the very near future version
will have an "update" feature. I have no idea as to how it will be
implemented.
But I believe the devs are aware of the feature request[1]. As usual, it
all depends on whether a dev is interested in working on this, and it
also depends on the complexity of working out this feature request.
Maybe a dev will chime in and let us know where this feature request is
at (note that on the bugzilla site[1] that it has not been picked up by
any dev at this point.
