Why is it this program want to do everything on my Desktop

1) installing installation files
I reckon that's part of the install.

2) placing an icon to start LibreOffice
During the install (on Windows - is that what you are complaining
aobut?) is a page:

Click Install to begin the installation.
that clearly has a checkbox for:
Create a start link on desktop

Perhaps you missed that?

no, i did not miss that, sorry for the confusion

1st, i was installing on Windows7 (64-bits), but because there's no
64-bits Windows version i was installing the 32-bits Windows version.

The question was meant to ask why this install folder is crerated on the
Desktop bij default, and the same for this Icon.

I know that you can change it, but this default location is NEVER a good
place!

A much better place would be a TEMP folder if these installation files
will no be needed anymore after installation, and for the ICON, a
default 'not checked' to create this thing..

While I agree in general, placing the folder on the desktop is a
hangover from OOo (which did/does the same). For Windows users it's
probably a better option so the user can easily deleate and or keep for
reinstall in case the install went bad.

If it was placed in a temp folder, the folder would be cleared on the
next reboot... and with Windows I reckon that happens quite a bit (I use
linux & generally only use Windows for testing/troubleshooting). I
suppose some Windows users would then be upset as they'd have to go
through the unpacking procedure all over again if necessary. Appears to
be one of those +1 for some and -1 for others.

Obviously you already know how to change both the icon and unpack
location, so use those options to suit your personal requirements. Or,
file an RFE type bug with a suggested alternate.
