Hi,

I got this marketing idea from Naruhiko Ogasawara.

Could we please have an Official Mascot? (Like FF has the famous &
quickly
recognizable Fox).

I very much like the idea, and proposed it in 2011 already :-))

Hi Christian,

I wish I had seen your mail before I replied to the
marketing@global.libreoffice.org group.

Why is the TDF not moving on this idea when it has been mooted in 2011?
It can strengthen LO's brand identity.

I especially like the simplified version Michael Meeks shows off here:

The simplified version image drawn by Michael Meeks is very nice.

I'd love if that could be turned into a mascot. Not sure we need an
animal.

Is it possible to have both, a colorful, talking Bird (Mascot) + Michael
Meeks image?

At least our mascot can give great pillows :-))

ciao
Christian

Thanks,
Paul

This is also another recurring topic that normally shows up on either the discuss list or the marketing lists. It comes up about every 6 months or so. You can most likely find more examples/discussions if you just google the words "LibreOffice" and "mascot" or ...

Our v.4.0 is the first version to finally break out on its own and find itself untied to OOo so, people are just now discovering the LibreOffice brand. We should be working to marketing the brand itself before any mascot. Plus we need more community involvement if we are going to talk/design/adopt a mascot and it really has to be in a very polished state.

I agree with Charles that talking of adopting a mascot for the LibreOffice brand is still way too early.

Cheers,

Marc
