This is the Italian localisation team expressing their disappointment with
the current state of translation, or rather, non-translation, in the

And me expressing my disappointment at the accusing tone. We are not
telepathic or mind readers, so we need people to tell us if they
notice something is wrong.

We have noticed with great concern that many strings in the UI and Guide
remain untranslated, even though they are marked as 100% completed on the
Weblate platform.

The guide translation was and is experimental, and my last info was
that omega-T based translation is still the way to go for the time
being.
But I'll let Oliver answer that I guess.

And we do not actually have any information on whether
this situation is the same in other languages.

Someone from any language team really should be subscribed to this
list, then everything would become a lot smoother I think..

So yes, all languages were affected, it is not something specific to
Italian translation. It had been reported
https://www.mail-archive.com/l10n@global.libreoffice.org/msg14412.html
on Feb 18.

[…] It is difficult to understand
why these efforts have not produced consistent results for this project.

Bugs happen. Why assume we wouldn't care about translators' work, that
we intentionally throw away or not use the strings?

We
would like to know what has happened and what steps you intend to take to
resolve this issue.

See the above thread. Took immediate action to the best of my
abilities. And the problem has been solved as far as I can tell.

The question now is: would it be possible to arrange an emergency build to
include the translations already completed?

No need for an emergency build, since regular releases are scheduled
for this week anyway. You'll be able to check with this week's builds
for 25.2.2 rc1 and 24.8.6 rc1 or can also use the daily builds
produced today.

If you still find cases that don't match, make sure to mention them.

This scenario should never occur in a product that aims to be a viable
alternative to other office suites.

Yes, should never occur. But how do you expect us to address an issue
we're not aware of?

[…]
We look forward to your prompt response and hope that we can resolve this
as soon as possible.

Valter, Marco, Elisabetta and all the LibreOffice Italian Localisation Team

The sooner you mention issues, the sooner they can be acted upon. If
you keep the problems for yourself and only complain when the
situation is "unbearable", then it is too late. Having such a
complaint letter in such a tone co-signed by the whole team really
makes me sad.

ciao
Christian
