While rtl_uString is internal, its layout is effectively part of the ABI.
 Right :(. I originally didn't see any access to its member in the inline 
methods, thinking the struct contents were manipulated only by the C 
implementation functions, but now I see that e.g. getLength() accesses it. 
Bugger. Oh well, 4.0 it is.
