Hi guys,
I'd really like to get the tentative design finished this week.
I still think the color preview should be in an area separate from the
color list -- what do the others think?
Also, recent colors should be listed on the Recent colors page, not on the
Theme color page, as, unlike theme colors, recent colors are static. Theme
colors should not be listed under recent colors, because they're not static.
I would also like to get rid of the OK button on the Custom color page, as
it is merely a Close button and pop-overs don't tend to have close buttons.
I updated my proposal a bit so you can see what I mean:

It would also be good to have the right alignment, spacing, sizing, etc.,
so that it's ready for a developer.
Some random comments on your and other mockups.
Proposal by Mirek2: Old and new color bar do not resemble buttons in any
way. This makes it hard to guess if these are clickable or not. At first
glance I'd say not. If these act as buttons, they suit well to the
bottom of the dialog. The only part where covering it with hand (on
tablet, Kévin's concern) is actually important, is the custom color tab.
On other tabs you already see the color when you click. Also, you likely
don't watch the "New color" but the document itself changing.

Proposal by Medieval:
Color picker icons are great. I would expect similar graphical pickers
as well. Having color pipette is a superb idea as well.
Proposal by Issa:
This one is functionally close to what I like. Recent colors on the top
is a good thing, easier to use and maybe helps in not using too many
different colors.
Would benefit from bigger color boxes.
Proposal by me:

We need both Automatic and None, otherwise using styles becomes a pain.
As my mockup shows, these suit to the bottom together with old and new
colors (either like that or usual toolbar-like icons).
It shows how selected color box is indicated by being bigger. Old and
New color examples take the maximum space.
Opacity from recent and theme view should be dropped and be part of the
color picker to be saved together with the color (If saving colors with
opacity is technically possible.)
Right now I myself like "Tentative design" the most, but my ability to
objectively compare it may be skewed because of the aesthetics.
IMO it needs these changes:
* Recent colors to the top
* Add None color to the Automatic and move these down to New / Old buttons
Regards
Mattias
