Good question.
It might be good to add Tango colors to the palette if we start using them
for defaults, but I'd be wary of removing any colors before going through
with color handling [1], simply for compatibility reasons (users would
wonder where the color they were using for shapes went, and would have no
idea how to bring it back).
A comment bug report concerning better default gradients contained a
link to a Tango gradient palette. I cleaned it up a bit:

But again, I don't think we can remove the ones we have just yet.
The default colors for shapes and diagrams seem both to be hardcoded,
I suggest we simply choose a few colors from these palettes, maybe
these could be made customizable via the advanced options pane at some
point in the future.
The lightest Tango Sky Blue, perhaps?
