Hi Drew, Jean, all
I'm really sorry, that I didn't comment on this design earlier.
I had started to move something similar to the OpenSourcePress design to
SVG, but my laptop decided to boil (Ubuntu fan control sucks) and all my
work was gone...

Hi Jean,
Well, couldn't resist touching this one time over morning coffee.
Decoupled the document icon from the textual part and put both no a
growth hormone, also rolled back the color jab on the scatter patter as
it was kaka (technical term for sucked)...you can see in the latest file

The large gray LibO icon in the upper right-hand corner seems a bit of a
harsh contrast to the rest of the image. It might work if smaller, or in
a different color or something.
I assume you removed the document icon from the logo in order to enlarge
the "LibreOffice" text, which really seems a bit small on the other
covers on the wiki gallery
(http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Gallery_DocumentationFronts).
But I don't like this icon in this place and size either - it looks too
bold in my eyes.

Doesn't look like anyone else has had time to look at this and coment.
Sorry - different things to do :-(
I don't have lots of other comments.
I agree that the logo might be more prominent in order to have a larger
"LibreOffice" text on the cover, but I would keep the logo intact as
this is our main branding element.
You probably tried already to have the full mimetype icons instead of
just the symbols - this would be the only way I imagine with this design
to include the sub-applications colors to the covers without becoming
too prominent.
But these are not very important considerations. Your design looks good
- there is no reason at all to veto it: Please go ahead!
And thanks for stepping in!
Best regards
Bernhard
