Hi, Octavio,
thanks!

My comments:
I think "Apply direct formatting to this style" will be a source of
trouble and confusion. How about adding a "d" or some icon at the
leftmost part of each style name if it has this checkbox enabled? (I
am not saying you should remove the checkbox). Something like:
+ Heading d
Heading1
Heading2
Great idea! This would allow one to know with just one look which styles
have direct formatting auto-apply on, and which don't.
- direct access to "style properties dialog";
I didn't find that, what icon was that?
That would be the + (plus) sign on the left of each style name. I wasn't
so sure this would be easy to deduce, seems it's not :-) Maybe another
icon or sign, not really sure. Beside the preview there's also a button
with the + sign, it does the same.
- list of applied styles (indicating whether they're actual styles,
and the type of them, or direct formatting, in which case there's a
thorough list of formatting applied, and a button to reset (same as
Ctrl+M);
I liked that.
I believe this could be extended in the future, allowing some formatting
or choosing inside the list (much in the line proposed by Astron here:
http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/File:Organizer-rdsgn.png). But for
now I would stick to this plain list with the Reset option only.
- preview!
Am I correct to assume the sample format in the middle part belongs to
the style, and not the current position?
You are correct indeed ;-) Only the inspector refers to current position.
I would like to have buttons to hide the preview and the formatting
inspector.
This would be good indeed. Always make customizable! I don't know how
the graphic toolkit would handle this, though, I don't really know how
it works. I'll add a button (which could hide to show only on mouseover)
just to signalize the idea.
Also, what does the checkbox mean on the "Direct formatting: " part at
the bottom? Considering you already have a Reset button, what happens
if you check/uncheck the box? (I was thinking I'd drop it.)
We could drop that. Keep it simple. Later on, we could add some options
to deactivate a style, temporarily visualize without some style or
without the direct formatting before actually removing the style or
hitting Reset button. But this would mean change the other lines as well
(like permitting a drop-down, so we could change from "emphasis" to
"strong emphasis" from inside the inspector). I guess this all could
come in a later time (if needed at all).
Best regards!
Cheers!
