As for the meeting. . . .
Need more info on it, not the date. How are we going to "meet".
At present I still think IRC makes the most sense, for the most people.
I know from your earlier emails that this is a problem in your case -
Have been trying to think of how to help mitigate the problem.
Third - Using IRC there will be a full log of all the comments kept,
this will be available in very short order afterwards.
I do need a good and easy Ubuntu IRC client and exact instructions how to
set up the client for the "IRC channel" that we will be using. That was the
trouble using it before, could not get it setup so I could use it on the
channel that is being used.
For the IRC bit, I have to use Ubuntu since my DELL Vista laptop will not
boot up outside Safe Mode with any networking options. Safe Mode plus
networking will not boot. There is a blue screen that flashes too quickly
to read that it tries to reboot. So I may have to see if I can repair
[reinstall] the OS, if I can find the disks that DELL gave me. But that
will not happen till my mind is back to where it needs to be for a few
days/weeks.
Okay, I deleted parts of this message that didn't related to IRC.
IRC is one of the original parts of the Internet. It has been around
forever. There is a lot of information on the Web about IRC. In
addition, IRC clients often have documentation.
Here are a few links
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/IRC/Instructions
http://freenode.net/faq.shtml#contents (I presume we'll be on freenode.)
http://freenode.net/using_the_network.shtml
I use Kubuntu and Quassel. I don't know what the default Ubuntu client
is. Some searching on the forums should turn up this information.
Otherwise, post the question to a Ubuntu forum. Might also look there
for IRC help.
Just set up a chat account in Opera 11.10. Hard to imagine anything
would be much easier. Step-by-step account setup. The only thing that
might be an obstacle is that Opera insists on downloading all 29000+
rooms, which takes a while. There's a button to join a conversation
(once it's published here). Searching for "tdf" located that channel.
