Bugzillaには同様の現象が無い様ですので報告したいと思います。
うーん、こんな感じでしょうか・・。

1,Open new Spread sheet.
2,Data > Define range.
3,Keep "Name" to empty.
4,Click  some cells behind dialog.
5,Type some text.
6,Calc will crash.

おかげさまで徐々に現象が絞りこめてきました。
吉田さんの仰る通り、このダイアログは本来、親ウィンドウでセルを範囲指定することが前提になっているようです。

本来は、名前に何かしら文字を入力した後で、範囲選択が出来るように親ウィンドウが選択可能なモードに以降する、
という挙動が正しい様なのですが、
名前に何も入力していない状態でも、親ウィンドウにフォーカスを移すことが出来てしまうため、そこからおかしくなるようです。

いやー普段何気なく使ってますが、UIの設計って難しい物なんですね。

力モードが日本語になっているときのみに起こるようです。直接入力の際には起
こりませんでした。あと、Windows、Linuxに関係なく起こるようです。
