hmm, really - IIRC the authorities in Hamburg, representing whatever it
is Dusedlorf region or something, settled this with Google over 6 months
ago when they, Google, implemented the IP mask Europe wide, released the
opt-out addon (extension) for a few more of the common browsers
(covering well over 90% of the European market); otherwise it is the up
to the site operators in Germany to conform with certain disclosures in
the site privacy statement.

The decision not to use Google is certainly one which falls within the
group here, and I would not disagree with the decision not to use it,
but there is no basis at this point, IMO, to continue spreading the idea
that it is a violation of German law.
