Is there a reason signup is only (apparently) possible if you have an
OpenID or an account at one of several services ?

I know it's more convenient but not everyone has accounts there.

Although I am happy to see a tool addressing this need, I am sincerely
disappointed that non-English speakers will have to wait longer to
participate fully.
