No chance for implementing a feature where a translation page is not
limited to the parent page tree but can be chosen from the global page
tree? (Hopefully you understand what I mean)
In my eyes, this would enable NL teams to pick a given page and to
define it being a translation from an arbitrative page from the Main
space.
