LibreOffice Base does not allow direct pasting of data from a spreadsheet into a table grid. The
table view in Base is designed for editing individual records, not for bulk data import.

To move your data from Calc to Base without retyping, you should use the "Copy and Paste" method
via the **Table** window, but with a specific sequence that triggers the table creation wizard.

1. In Calc, select the range of data you want to move, including the header row (the row with the
column names).
2. Copy the data (Ctrl+C).
3. Open your Base database file and click on **Tables** in the left-hand Database pane.
4. Right-click in the empty white space of the Tables area (where the list of tables usually
appears) and select **Paste**.
5. A wizard will appear asking you to name the new table. Here, you can also choose whether the
first row of your copied data contains column names.
6. Follow the prompts to define the data types (Text, Number, Date, etc.) for each column and
specify which field should be the Primary Key.

If you are trying to add data to an **existing** table rather than creating a new one, the process
is different because you cannot paste directly into a table. Instead:

1. In Calc, ensure your columns are in the exact same order as the columns in your existing Base
table.
2. Select the data (excluding the header row) and copy it.
3. In Base, open the existing table.
4. Scroll to the very bottom to the empty "New Record" row.
5. Click the small grey box at the far left of that row to select the entire row.
6. Paste the data (Ctrl+V).

If the second method still shows a greyed-out paste option, it is usually due to a data type
mismatch (e.g., trying to paste text into a numeric field) or a Primary Key conflict. In that case,
the most reliable alternative is to save your Calc sheet as a **CSV file** (Comma Separated
Values), then use a third-party tool or an external database engine (like HSQLDB or Firebird) to
import the CSV, as Base lacks a native "Import CSV" button.

Hope this helps.

For the third table this option is
no longer available.

Might be we will need screenshots. So ask.libreoffice.org would be the
better place to get a solution.

You copy the content of the table in Calc.
You try to insert the content into tables pane of Base.

What options do you see in content menue of the mouse?
