Base Database → Cretae new datbase → HSQLDB embedded …?
Yes, then I began creating the tables. Two tables already exist, so I
know I can write to it, or at least I could. The two tables were created
by pasting data from the spreadsheet. For the third table this option is
no longer available.

Hi Ian,
I have data in a spreadsheet which I am trying to get into Base.
None of the methods coming up in searches are working. Effectively
when copying from calc and attempting to paste into a predefined
table or to create a new table, paste is greyed out.
If "Paste" is greyed out your Base file isn't writable.
How did you create the Base file?
