I also would prefer to get back to the main whilst keeping the current
file open. The compromise would be 'Recent Documents' which,
unfortunately, only shows files of the same type as current open file,
not the whole content of the main menu.

If LO is completely closed, you can launch "LibreOffice", which will
bring you to the same interface, without opening a specific LO
component.
