Greetings,
If you go in Tools > Options... > Load/Save > General, there is a
setting to save auto recovery information. If LO crashes, you can then
recover a portion of your work when you restart.
This might help a bit if you are subject to crashes. Just note that if
your document is large, the behavior of LO may become sluggish as it
"freezes" when it performs the autosave (it does on Linux, don't know
about Windows).
