In the fish sheet I select the desired cell and give it a name via
managed names. Eg. lori_006 In range I see e.g. this $Fishes.
$G$32953 Scope: global
Range option: empty

But after some time, i.e. after adding dozens of new rows, it is no
longer correct. The link lori_006 in de second sheet still refers to
cell G32953 in the first sheet but ... not to the correct one. The
correct cell has since become G33189.

Sorry, but may you explain what you mean with "not to the correct
one"?

You said that, after the steps you described, the link still point to
the correct cell.

I'm a bit confused.

Let me try to explain what I mean.

I've a spreadsheet containing 5 sheets.
The largest sheet "called" Vissen" contains 36428 rows and is still
growing.
The second one "L-nummers" holds 655 rows
Vissen contains all the formally described fishes.
L-nummers contains only fishes from the family Loricariidae know in
the aquarium trade but without a scientific name.

From time to time some L-numbers gets a scientific name.
For instance L404 has been described in 2016 as Hypancistrus
margaritatus.

Because aquarists are creatures of habit, many still use the L-number.
That is why all formally described L-numbers are still listed.
To avoid duplication I only mention the scientific name and create a
hyperlink to that name in the vissen sheet where one can find more info.

And that's the problem.

Following the advice of Brian I renamed cell g:32731 in the vissen
sheet as lori_404 and in sheet L-nummers I created a hyperlink to
lori_404. Ctrl+k, document, target, add lori_404.

Works great until I add/delete rows.

Now when I click on the hyperlink in the L-number sheet I am directed
to the cell lori_404 in the fish sheet, but ... the cell lori_404 is now
in row 32769 which of course contains the wrong name. In this case
Hisonotus bourguyi.

I probably doing something wrong here, but I can't figured out what.

HTH,

Martin
