I have data in a spreadsheet from an external source. Some characters
within a word are formatted differently from others (for example by size of
font). Is there a way to find out how each character is formatted (I
presume by a macro call)?

No macro needed. Just select a cell and hit F2 and then use the arrow keys
to move the cursor within the cell. Then look at your font toolbar.
Whatever you see there is the format for the character to the immediate
left of the cursor.

Kind regards

Johnny Rosenberg

I have tried copying each character into a separate cell, but that destroys
the distinctive formatting.
