[libreoffice-users] Mode Default for Insert Media Into Writer

I submitted a bug report 104000 before I discovered what was going wrong.

Using insert-> image-> scan-> select source-> scan mode-> mode the 
default is lineart.
How do I change the default to gray or color? Selecting color or gray 
works for one cycle only. There is no "Save" button.

Today when I again tried to scan, the choices of gray and color had 
disappeared and lineart is the only available choice in the mode 
dropdown. Recycling the selection process a second time revealed the 
gray and color choice.

Also, to get to the mode window takes several seconds for the scan mode 
window to appear so the internal coding must be very convoluted.

I am using LibreOffice 5.2.3.3 on Ubuntu 16.10 64 bit.
