So I suppose it could be IE 8 not knowing what to do with this particulartype of cert - I'm going to switch to FireFox soon and have local LO helpworking now so not gettiing into fixing it.

Internet Explorer relies on system cryptography libraries, which don'tsupport AES in Windows XP. Therefore the old unmaintained certificate isnegotiated for.
